Does anyone have a recommendation for what my tire pressure should be? Im living in Florida, always hot weather. 2007 F250 Diesel crew cab short bed. 20" rims with stock good year tires. Says on door to run 65 front and back. Seems like a rough ride, any thoughts?

I too thought the ride was too rough with 65psi. So, I started trying lower pressures. Anything below 65, and I get "cupping" on the front tires. After going back to 65 on the front, I have gotten used to the ride. I am able to run 45psi in the back tires, and the wear is even (with no load in the bed).
Well, they rode pretty well. I little more bumpy than before, but not bad at all. I messed up the max PSI, it is 80, not 65. My problem is I haul 12K lbs. once or twice a week. I'll just keep them bumped up and see how they do.
When you are running near maximum air pressure, Check it with a couple of different gauges. Also take into consideration Summer heat. A cold 80# can go up over 90 when running a hot highway in the summer. Pavement on a turnpike can probably get close to 200*. Coming back from Me. Last summer, blew a tire on our camper E rated at 70 mph. Found I had a faulty gauge. When I put on the spare it was a little soft. While driving again some people came up beside us and said our tires were smoking. Stopped and the other tire was starting to melt. Checked the air pressure it was 110#!!! and the spare 65. Dropped it to 65 until I could get to a gas station, and put in 75 in each and drove home slow. Coming down 190 out of Fitchburg. Blew a tire on the other side at 55 mph. Checked the other tire & it was 100#. Finally put on 4 new tires and the dealer recommened running 75 cold and check pressure in the heat. Also I have 3 guages one says 72# one 75# and the other 77#. Drive me nuts. Going to have to pick up a couple of better gauges and take an average.
That's a great idea firehaawk. I'm going to pick up a couple different gauges tonight. Where's you break down on 190? I would have come to help you out. I live about 1 mile from 190 off the Leominster exit (exit 7 I guess?).

I believe it was exit 6 came off the exit and there was a restaurant on the right that I pulled into. Had to drop the trailer with my wife, daughter & dog. My son and I went looking for two tires. Drove up towards Leominster tried about 8 different places. Finally about 4:15 pm found a Sears open and got two. A 4 hour trip turned into 10 hours. I like coming across 2 down 190 to 290 to 20 west on a Saturday afternoon to keep away from that exit 9 traffic.

Ha, I know right where you were. I hate flat tires, especially with a trailer. I can't even imagine having a family along with me!
Thanks for your help, Ill try lowering my rear pressure a little bit.
Do you have the 6.0 as well? Have you done any engine or suspension upgrades?
Nope. All stock. I will leave everything under hood that way until I hit 100,000 miles. I hope to be able to go with a 4.5" lift and new wheels/tires in the next 12 months or so.
I have a set of Firestone E load tires that have a max PSI of 65. My right rear tire is looking a little low. I might be going on a small trip tomorrow, so I want to make sure everything it correct. I know what the door says, but what do you guys run for tire pressures? I need some real world advice.
I have MICH Load E's that indicate max load pressure is 80 PSI. Rides way to hard for me at that pressure. When I bought the truck (Excursion) they had 55 PSI (per door sticker), but that was for load D tires. At 55 PSI the E's seemed to wander. Too soft at 55 PSI. I am at 70 PSI now and I must say it's not too bad. 65 PSI might just be the number, but I have not tried that yet. Just my $0.02 .

I always run 1 or two pounds under the max rating on the side of the tires. Over the years I've found that I get better tire wear this way. Saves money

Thanks for that--after I read this post I went out and let air out of my tires. OEM was load e and the sticker says 75 psi front and rear. I went up on tire size (265/70-17 to 315/70-17) load rated d and could figure out why I hated the way the tires felt. I dropped the front to 55 and the rear to 50 and it changed the entire feel going down the road. Still needs ne shocks, though.
