I bought the 6 yr/90,000m extended warranty with my used '05 a couple mo ago. They said if I use their garage for warranty work it would be a $50 ded, and if it was someone else's (including Ford), it would be $75. The 6 years will be up way before I get that many miles on the truck, so no worries for awhile. Maybe then its time to trade it for another one.

The problem buying the new car ESP is that you have to count the original 3 year warranty against that 6 years. So you really only get 3 years of extended warranty. It is less expensive than a used car ESP plan though.

To get the old belt off you use a 1/2" breaker bar in the front of the tentioner to release the pressure and then slip it off the alternator. I used a long pipe to provide some leverage and was able to do the job myself in around 15 minutes.
