Hey all....what's the easiest way to install a rear window on a 95 f-150?Besides paying someone else to do it.lol.Sealon window or seal in can then slide window into seal?Solid window by the way...any and all help and advice appreciated.....especially ways to not break it....Thanks Guys....
Put the seal on the window. Get some armorall or something slick and put it on the rubber. Get a small rope that will fit down in the outside groove, and install it all the way around the outside of the rubber, and let the extra come together in at the top middle, with the extra tails hanging on the inside of the window.
Get someone to hold the glass from the outside and center it in the cab. Get them to put extra pressure up near the rope tails, and you get on the inside and gently start pulling one of the ropes. When the rope comes out of the groove, it will pull the rubber into place on the inside. Make sure the person on the outside keeps some pressure in the area you are pulling the rope, so it will persuade the rubber and the window toward the inside of the cab.
Franklin 2 has it exactly right. I put a back window in my truck a few years ago. Just spray the rubber part with something slippery, and put the rope in the groove, leaving the extra inside the cab. Pull the rope at an angle to pull the weatherstripping to the inside of the cab. You might not even need an assistant to do it, if you set the bottom of the window in place, and then pull the rest of it in from there using the rope.
When installing the new window, consider adding some RTV sealant in the two upper corners where the window rubber meets the cab's metal surface. Sometimes these areas like to leak and the sealant fixes this.
My first rear window replacement leaked and I've used the sealant method since then with zero leak problems.
Yes, it is a bit messy if you get carried away and use tons of RTV.
Thanks guys, for the help.....That was going to be my intended method anyways.Just wanted to see if there were any other ways....I had an idea about the RTV but I'll probably definately do it now.....Thanks again...I'll take some pics of that and my new rearwindow and post em on my gallery.Have a good weekend.
