I used the search function but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have an 03 6.0l F350 4x4 CC LB stock with 225k miles. So far it's never let me down but the power is off and it has the 6.0l turbo train whistle. I figger after this many miles the turbo would benefit from a rebuild. Is this something a person with moderate mechanican skills can do? Where can one purchase the parts for this, are there any tricks or special tools required? How much would it cost to have someone else do it. Oh yea it still averages 17-19 mpg @75-80 mph on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson.(hand calc)
Man, I wish i could help you, but I can't. Just wanted to say thank you for posting your milage. Seeing 225k on an 03 makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Sure hope i can get that out of my rig.

Man you've sent chills up my spine reading 225k on an 03 six-oh
I have only 55k on my 03 and so far so good. I frequently travel on the I-10 from Ventura too Parker, but I only manage to get about 16 mpg at those speeds. I guess my engine has not completed the break-in cycle yet.
TJ could you please tell us more about your 225k mile experiences with your six-oh??
One other question.....can you replace the turbines with performance models? If so where can I get the parts for this.
ats makes an aftermarket turbo for the 6.0. elite-diesel does as well I believe, there is a thread or two going on over at ford-trucks.com about upgrading turbos in 6.0s. here is the link to one thread. Cat=0&Number=3265726&an=0&page=0#Post3265726 I believe black widow is another company making an after market turbo for the 6.0. not for sure though. at 225k miles in lets say 4yrs thats 55,000ish miles a year and 4,500ish miles a month. sweeeeet!
I bought it awhile ago from a good friend of mine. He put around 150k on it before I got it. He used it to travel between <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com and <ST1<st1:City>El Paso</st1:City>, <st1:State>TX</st1:State></ST1 with occasional towing to <ST1<st1:City>Yuma</st1:City>, <st1:State>AZ</st1:State></ST1 with toy hauler and quads.
I drive it 50 mi on Interstate 10 in <st1:State><ST1Arizona</ST1</st1:State> each way to work. Oil was changed every 5k. All fluids changed at regular intervals. It's had several hundred gallons of B-100 through it. The truck seems to like it better than dino diesel.
So far the only thing I've had a problem with are the injectors during cold starts. Winter was brutal this year; it got all the way down to the low 40's. And I cant get my wife out if it on the weekends.
So I guess all I do is maintain the truck and drive the hell out of it. This is my first diesel and I love it so far. This site has proven invaluable for information. I do put a fuel additive in it when I run the ULSD diesel but not with the B100.

TJ you've put a big on my face reading about your 03 six-oh. Especially running on B100. Do you brew your own? If so I'd like to know your set up
You have proven to many folks that the six-oh is good and reliable if driven as it should be and not chipped & bling-blinged for street light drags.
Thanks, sorry bout the smileys. I'm probably going to screw myself. I plan on putting an exhaust on in the near future, just a four incn system and thats probably all. I read some of the horror stories on here about the 03 6.0l but I know more people that love their than dont. I guess thats why these forums are around its a good place to share info good or bad. Just wanted to share one of the good stories.
Most of the B100 before I bought it was home brew from an appleseed processor and chinese restaruants. I haven't started my processing yet. Waiting to move into new house in Tucson. I've been buying my B100 from a place in Tucson. So far so good with it.
I've heard and read many bad thing about running B100, such as injector seals, and engine seals but with 225k on your's it sound like your not. Perhaps becuase it's Chinese B100 Ha - Ha.
I would love to drive mine on B100, but things are different hear in Kaliforneea with the green police and what seams to be the annual recalls for yet another anti-polution reflash.
I'll wait until my 100k mile warranty expires before going fossil-less
I haven't had any leaking at all and I don't expect to. The leaks are caused by vehicles with the old rubber hoses not the new 'whatever the hell there made of" hoses. Soon as I start making my own I'm gonna sell my wifes magnum and get her a diesel X. I'm tired of paying the crooks who make our gas.
