Been busy lately... I seem to gravitate hard to the 87-91s lately. I am back up to 4 trucks - all in that range. Hard to believe I got rid of 1 and bought 2 in 1 week!
Anyone else nuts on these years?
I used to think they were ugly, but the lure of EFI and low price made me change my mind. I always liked the older stuff, but these seem to be plentiful and eay to maintain. I have been getting XLTs so I am spoiled with the tilt, cruise, PW, PL that I could never find in 86 and olders.
I am down to 3 trucks now, all different style and eras. A 76 F100 2x4, an 82 F-100 4x2, and the newest in my collection is an 88 F150 4x4.
I was always partial to the early 80's but now that I have the 88 I am really starting to like it.
I my fleet includes all those trucks and aslo an 80 E-150, an 05 Taurus(third one I've owned) and then the one and only non Ford an 85 Olds Ciera. Other Fords not at my residence include a 70 something Highboy and a 93 crown vic.
I would'nt say your nuts otherwise I would have to call myself that.
I remember thinking how odd the new Fords looked when they came out in '87. At the time I had a '77 F250 HiBoy and thought that trucks did'nt get any better looking than it did. But after awhile the look grew on me, I guess. I bought an '85 F150 and really liked the looks of it, rust and all. Then I found a low mileage '91 F250 and decided I better have it, so eventually I got rid of the '85 and bought a 4x2 '88 F150. I've also had a '94 F150, and now I have a '96 Bronco, so I've come around to liking the looks (and performance... can't forget that!) of all the trucks that Ford has made in at least the last 30 years. When I look to replace a vehicle, I always look at a Ford before anything else.
OMG - I am nutz! I just discovered 2 of my trucks have intermit. wipers. It is SUCH a pain with 2 speed wipers... especiall when I have to reach "all the way" to the dash! (man... am I getting LAZY!)
