Looking for a plow mount for my late 99 f250 superduty 7.3 4x4. I have an older western plow and am having a hard time finding a mount. I dont really want to fabricate a mount if I dont have to. This blade is an older straight plow that is cable operated.
I think you will find that you are out of luck mounting a non quick mount plow to that truck unless you fab something up. I believe they stopped making conventional mounts after the 97 model year. Also all the new plows have elctionic controls and not cables anymore. I think you would be better off finding a used plow designed for use on your truck.
sorry if this is a hi-jack, also looking for a plow and mount solution...dont need an 8ft wide one...just something to clear out my drive way...does someone make a medium size plow kit for a 2005 f-250. I've seen a lot of used plow mounts on ebay and I'd be afraid to mount those rust buckets on my truck.
I learned in a plowing forum - this is a racket by the plow mfg'ers - plow mounts are frequently discontinued, forcing upgrades (IMO).
You can buy Unimount mounts for Western on eBay, but you'll pay a hefty price. You could have a local shop fab you a mount, but they'd need to do it properly. I decided to keep my '84 GMC since a mount for a '99 GMC was nearly impossible to find. The '99 was a flabby mush-wagon, so a solid axle plow truck is better anyway.
Yea thats what im thinkin too. Just dont want to fab somethin up. Sucks cause I have everything for this plow and it still works. It used to be on my 77f250 but Id have to put even more money into that doin ujoints and other steering since this truck is pretty worn out but still works. My 7.3 would do a better job. I thought about buying a whole new plow set up used but its still alot of money.
