I recently purchased a 67F100..its a 390 stroked to a 410...and the guy told me it has 11to1 compression...right now its not much of a street truck..but im going to put a different gear and a gear splitter so it can be a bit more streetable....but my real question is what octane gas do i need to be using so it can run fine...????any help guys..
wow thanks..for the input...i was thinkin right about the same...if i set the timing off.u think i can drive on premium..just to drive around the block???
hopefully nothing happens to it with 93..ill give a try...i just bought the truck like 3 weeks ago..im still investigating with it...i thought it was a good buy...all straight body..the only piece of rust is like 6"x6" and its in the bed....its a 410 built to race for only 2500 including taxes plates and title change...what u think?
Not too shabby if the motor is what it's advertised. Going to look over a 75 F100 tomorrow that's got a smokin (not as in high performance) 360 for $500. When I first drove my 89 Ranger after the 331 was installed, the tank was filled with 87 octane gas. One trip down the street and back was enough to find out that that wasn't enough octane. Damn thing didn't ping at all, it sounded more like it was crushing rocks in the cylinders. Immediately after hiting the driveway, the siphon hose came out and I drained 15 gallons out, then replaced it with 15 gals. of Chevron Premium. No damage to the engine.
thanks for all the help..tommorow im going to adjust the timing a bit...and also tighten the rockers a bit....little by little the motor is shaping up

i want new valve covers!!
I know I have seen that truck somewhere, ebay ? craigslist? lots of picts and hot rod edvertising. Looks like it will be a fun thing when tinkered to perfection. Enjoy!
Yeah it could be , but mine is not primer black just Wlamart special black..LOL As far as running your engine on 93 octane it should not hurt it. I run 93 octane in mine all the time and mine is set up at 12.3 to 1 compression. You have to remember that the cam will drop the cylinder pressure which inturn drops your compression ratio (dynamic compression) So turn your timing down a little and go!!!. I run my timing at around 32 degrees total on the street. Whats it run in the 1/4?? or 1/8? By the way were in texas are you at??
im here in houston...ive never run it at the track..still just workin on it....if the truck weighs 3800 according to the title..and i weigh 200..thats 4000 lbs...and ive used those racing calculators..i put in 380hp at the flywheel(just guessing maybe more HP)..but it should run 12.5-13flat

Well I just live east of Austin and have alot of family in Houston(originally were I am from) Might juat have to make a trip your way one weekend, or even meet in Sealy once I can get my truck back together. I got a 418FE in mine and it runs a 12.66 in the 1/4 right now but still needs some tunning on it.
