Howdy folks,
New here so I thought I'd hit you up with a question,
Wifeys 96 Bronco - I had a check engine lite come on after a recent trip, after I got home I had a friend run the scanner & found a dead 02 sensor - no prob a quick replace & all was well.
As I was getting my part he said he was pretty sure there was an updated code for the PCM. He said he would reflash it for me if I wanted it. The Bronco runs great-5.8 & shifts real good for a E4OD, So I wonder if I should- shouldnt fool with it???
If it ain't broke- don't fix it. Sometimes these "reprograms" are a major step backwards. Case in point is the reprogram for the 3.0 in the Rangers. It retards the timing to eliminate the pinging folks are having. The result is the truck loses power and eats gas. Can't say with yours though, but if it ain't broke-DON'T FIX IT.
Thanks - thats what I figured, my wreching mostly involves powerstrokes & its the same thing with the PCM's on them for every bug it fixes it takes away from power & mileage. So much for wishful thinking...
