I've got an 83 F250 6.9 Diesel. The transmission shifts very hard and abruptly. I already changed the little vacuum thing on the tranny.
Today I went out with my vacuum pump and checked all the lines for leaks. Everything was holding vacuum except for the brake booster. I pumped and pumped and the needle never budged. Are these things supposed to hold vacuum in their idle state? I checked it AT the check valve.
I connected a vacuum gauge to my vacuum manifold, and I DID get about 20 inches of vacuum, but it took a few seconds to get there. Another symptom I have is when I apply the brakes, it stops on a dime, but if I quickly apply them again, I get NO booster assist whatsoever.
