Airbag question

I posted this in the SD forum, but didn't get the response I hoped for. I have noticed over the years that the best advice I have gotten on FTE has come from this forum, so I'm hoping someone can help me figure this one out. The truck is a diesel, so I guess I'm not totally off topic in here!!

My problem is this. My airbag warning light comes on sometimes. Part of the time it blinks 3 blinks - then 2 blinks - then 3 blinks - then 2 blinks. Then it might eventually stay on. Then, next time it may not come on at all. What exactly am I looking at here? I'm thinking that a connection somewhere may be loose or something. I think the truck is trying to tell me what the problem is with this code thing it's doing. Hopefully someone in here can understand the blinking language.

THANKS in advance!!

Someone with AE software would be able to pick that up pretty easy. You are a ways away otherwise I'd read for ya.

Auto enginuity, enables you to read OBDII and Non compliant OBD information from vehicle's computer system. Most who have it purchased the ford bundle that enables all codes to be read. Essentially, I can read everything the dealer can with my laptop.

ebay or http://www.autoenginuity.com/

Overall price is not bad if you like doing your own work. A few trips to have codes ready would pay for itself. Keep in mind, our diesels are non OBD compliant, meaning the typical reader is not going to pick up everything you may or maynot want to read.

And it also works for OBDII compliant vehicles. So the generic codes can be read on any vehicle.

What cangim is saying is that a standard OBDII code reader from autozone or such will not read the codes for our trucks. They may read some of the secondary system standard codes but not the diesel specific codes. The AE system is almost (if not) as good as the dealership software, for a reasonable price.
