Wherever these cars were stored likey burned down taking the cars with the flames. They'd be great candidates for rat rods.
My body shop friend is currently working on getting access to the auctions so that he and I can start going there to buy salvage, whether they're classics or not.
By the way, some time ago, the same company had a 56 Ford that was wrecked up for auction.
That is a shame, but since Ford used wood structure to support the body skins I'm surprise they haven't just collapsed into a pile of sheetmetal, especially the model A where the body panels were actually nailed not welded in place. I'd also expect the panels to be warped all to heck and softened from the heat. I know people that have tried working with fire annealed body panels, and they said it was like working with aluminum, you just looked at it and it would dent.
For the guys not able to to see the links here are the cars up for auction (linked from the auction company's website, these are direct links, not copied-the legal stuff):
The auction house is about 5-10 miles from my house. I wish I could go and check it out but I think it's only open to dealers. As AX said, I wonder what the wood framing is like, not to mention how warped the sheet metal is.
Doesn't help to store them outdoors, either. One of my first cars was burned from a fuel pump fire on the whole front end, which took all the paint off, and then it was left to sit outdoors in northern Illinois, the rust capital of the world. 90% of my work on that car was because of the rust, not the fire. Bare metal rusts fast and deep.
drool drool and more drool ! what i would give for one of those pretties 1 ain't nothin' there that cant be fixed . i'll bet my neighbors would love me !!
Axracer, check into becoming a dealer. Some states it's just a matter of a $$$ license. Some states if you sell 2-3 cars a year you can apply for a dealers license. You can be very innovative on buying and selling 2-3 junkers, etc. Have a great day, chuck
