You see the big connectors on the left and right of your solenoind, one side goes back to the starter and the other goes back to the battery. Touch a screw driver in between the the post on the fornt where the little wire goes to the the side post that goes back to the battery. You'll see some sparks but it should turn over.
I would clean my connections first if I were you, you still need a good path for the electricity to flow. A path is from the + thru whatever your running and back to the -. A break or weakness in the path will interfere with the flow.
-Clean the battery terminal connects (+ & -) Leave the terminals off for now. Follow the negative down to the block and frame and clean those ends really good. Clean where they mount to also. Get down to shiney metal.
-Clean all the ends attached to the solenoids side posts.
-Clean the end connected to the starter.
-Take the bolts holding the starter in and clean the block around the bolt area and clean the stater around the bolt areas. The starter gets ground thru the contact with the block you see.
-Reconnect the battery terminals and try her.
thank you, you said exactly what I wa trying to say but just couldn't figure out how to word it. it's been a long day!!!
RRRRRRRRRR!!! Hold on! How on earth do I have a good starting up truck and then I shut it down and don't start it for about 4 months and then all the sudden it just doesn't start. Everything else except the horn and the truck doesn't work...what about the horn, could it be similar?
Give me a sec and I will get back with you on that...i want to make sure....looking at the picture and imagining the two little prongs are facing you and the black wire on the left and the red wire on the left....from that, connect.....?
Sorry I keep asking but I want to be absolutely sure and not screw anything else up!!!

Yes, both your horns and your starter get ground thru the body, frame, or block.
No path to ground means no path back to battery negative and that = no work.
I forgot to mention to clean the body ground. Its a bolt thats just forward of the battery and has 3 or 4 wires on it, right on the fender. Clean all those good too.
I'll check all this tomorrow guys and see what I need to clean. I did paint the frame, and I also might have painted something I wasn't supposed to paint. I will double check tomorrow. Thanks for the advice and i will post tomorrow and tell you what I did and if anything happened.
you can't screw it up, touch a little post to the big post on the side. Doing it on the wrong side won't do anything. Doing it on the correct side will at least get some sparks and should turn over the motor unless you have other issues such as corroded wires/connectors/grounds...
