thanks..... im also wondering how the system lets you know your distance... is it an audible alert, or a visual? i have seen some aftermarkets with a number readout showing the feet remaining, but im not sure if i want that box unit on my dash. thanks again.

It lets you know with a audible alert. It starts beeping when you are 6 feet away and the sound speeds up as you get closer until it goes to solid tone at 1 foot away

It's an audible alert. A series of beeps much like the heart ekg machines that beep faster the closer you get to an object and than sounds steady (flat lines) when your about one foot from an object. Works very well.

thanks a lot for the replies. i think i will look for an oem system, or maybe hide the "visual" portion of the aftermarket under the dash.
