if your going to do a limited slip you can't run a ford trac loc, you'll kill the clutches every couple thousand miles....i switched over to an eaton limited slip in the 8.8 with good luck....
Sounds fine. I run with just a stock LS in the rear for a while now with no problems other than the clutches wear fairly quickly. I finally just welded a stock carrier in my front after breaking the detroit I had in there. The LS at each end would keep the street manners in check and help out a bit off road. You just need to keep those clutches in mind when doing maintenance as they require the friction modifier.
well...the tabs on my clutch packs in the trac loc broke three times....twice took out the gears and bearings, once just the trac loc. after rebuilding it three times i finally just got the eaton. Much stronger
After doing some more research about gear ratios in the D44, I think it will be nearly impossible to find one with a higher ratio, so I guess I will be regearing both of them when all this comes together.
Might have to do some more research on the Yukon brand of diffs
I like the Yukon gears, Been running them hard fora few years now with no problems. The moly axles are supposed to be better than most and from what the guys at JBG said, they usually warranty the shafts no questions asked, but I guess that depends on how and what you break. From what I have dealt with from Yukon, I think they have a great product and wouldn't put their name on junk if they didn't think it was strong and worked well.
