Hey Folks,
Looking at getting a superchip. I notice they are like $400 buck-a-roos on their website. My buddy told me that he got his for like $150 and that was at least 4-5 years ago. Am I looking at something different? I want to boost my power a little bit, im not looking for total customitivity.
Go with a Tony Wildman 4 pos chip, or a dp tuner chip. They are preprogramed, all you do is flip the switch, and they provide the best performance. With tony you can tell him what you have, what you are looking for and he will hook you up with what you need. I am at work and don't have the link to his site but somebody will post it soon
I third that. DP or Tony. any others will leave you wishing you had bought the right one the first time! everybody who has ever switch from another to a dp or wildman chip has raved about the difference!
well, bought the truck with a superchips on it and just changed to the wildman about a week and a half ago. what a difference! much more responsive, plus my fuel milage seems to have climbed a few points. also, tony provides phenomenal service. i had an issue with my install and tony walked me right through the entire install process. even called me back a few hours later to make sure all went well and see how i liked it.
By the sounds of it the Edge is not as good as a Wildman or DP. I actually don't think there at too many people on this site running the edge. The programming is just not as good. Many people start with the "others" but end up with the DP or Wildman.
I believe EDGE really shines when it comes to a Cummins application. You get the EDGE Juice and your talking some serious power.
How do the DP-Tuner and Tony Wildman tuners work? Do you have to upload the program to the ECM or is it a "flip the switch" when you need the extra power kinda deal??? Is it really worth the big bucks for a 4 program chip? I don't really tow or want super performance, I like the vehicle stock but it needs a little more pickup. I may tow stuff down the road....
Am I better off spending $ on an exhaust or something of that means or is a chip better?
they are a fixed chip (still removeable though) that has a switch to allow you to switch between programs. And as far as cost they are no more than a $400 superchip programmer. it depends on how many programs you want.
$245 for a single postion dp-tuner. The 80hp economy tune might be exactly what you want. Better yet, call and tell them exactly what you want from your truck and they'll set you up with just that. Custom tuning to any level is what they do.
