I have a 05 PSd with the Tymar intake except I put an AFE filter on it. i am looking for a place to get the stock plastic pins that hold the top of the stock intake in because i am going to put the stocker back in because i want to see if the tymar intake is hurting my mileage because it sucks the hot engine bay air in...
Do you mean a 95 PSD? If you want 05 parts you should go to that forum and see if you can get someone to "volunteer" the parts to you
BTW: Warm intake air will help your milage (emissions too). Hot air will cause a lack of power but really helps the emissions. Cold air will give you HP but the MPG will suffer.

Yeah Cuda I meant 95. It was a long week and just brain/type farted. thanks for the little hot cold explanation i didn't know that. but witht the way my intake is i cant help but think about its just getting hot air....
Anyone ever snorkel a PSD that you know of? i am toying with the idea
I read somewhere here that someone measured their underhood air temp near their Tymar type intake while driving and it was barely warmer than the outside air. It would certainly climb while stopped though.
Bob, I left the "over-the-battey" snorkle from the old air box in place. I thought it would funnel enough cold air (at speed). On really hot days sitting in traffic you can notice the performance difference. Once you get it going ~40MPH or so for a couple minutes the throttle response returns to normal.
Like 10bands said, I have the article in print (probably take me two weeks to find it) but they used two electirc thermometer. One outside the grill and one next to the air cleaner (open element). While driving, during the summer, (outside temp upper 80's or low 90's IIRC) the difference in temps was less than 10 degrees. 10 degrees difference in temp will not make any noticable difference in engine performance. While stopped in traffic, it was 30-40 degrees. They ran the test for a week and then complied the results.
So I'm pretty much ok with just leaving it be then. I made a heat shield out of some sheet metal but it looks like crap. I want to get a good looking intake or heat sheild...any ideas? i don't have alot of cash flow as we are a single income family but i also want/need better throttle response from my truck. i am afraid to jump right out there with my daughter in the car cause my trucks sluggish...
Sluggish truck? Drain the water out of the fuel filter housing & change fuel filter. Clean the FPR screen. Check the fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the FPR, if low shim the FPR. Try the 10k mod. Let us know what you find.
Yah, plowhand that's what I was thinking. If the throttle response is that bad it's likely something other than hot air in the intake. 338K may be another contributing factor.

ok i feeel really stupid. draining and replacing i know but the FPR screen and shimming i am unfamiliar with. whats the pressure supposed to be anyways? where is the FPR?
Good call mexemo, yes if the map sensor line is disconnected or has a leak it will effect preformance.
BOBSDIESEL, the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) is located on the left (drivers) side of the fuel filter housing. It is held on by two 10mm bolts. Remove the bolts, and pull it off, the part that goes into the fuel filter housing has a screen in it that needs to be cleaned. Check out this thread on it (with pictures thanks to Cuda_jim). https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...pr-screen.html
Fuel pressure at idle should 40-60. It will bounce around alot using a sealed gauge
Thanks Plow. I didnt ever think about the o-rings rotting out. i wil, have to check that out tomorrow when i get home from work. i bookmarkes those pages too
