Concrete Cleaner?

Can anyone recommend a good cleaner to remove oil stains from concrete? Thanks.

I don't know the brand name of the stuff I bought at Lowe's, but it was a reddish/pinkish color liquid in a white gallon jug. The label has some brown on it. I know this stuff will eat through any stain on the driveway and remove it.

(I'm going to move this to the General Discussion forum. Might get some better ideas in there... )

Yeah the Hardware stores have some decent cleaners. There is an oil cleaner and a rust cleaner, they handle different stains of course. I thnk Jasco is one of the brands I have used with good results. Some oil stains leave a shadow so you might not get it all.

If you want an excusee to buy a new tool, you might look into a pressure washer, get a big one say 6hp or bigger, otherwise you spend all day cleaning.

If you are looking for a pressure washer checkout the "factory seconds" and "returns" section of the store, sometimes you can find really good deals. I got my 8hp Generac for something like $100. It was brand new, the previous year model and missing the hose and wand. I called Generac to order the parts and they sent me the whole kit for free, bless em.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson

Thanks for the replies. I do have a 6.5hp (2300 psi) power washer. I didn't have much success with that removing the stains with just water. Once I identify a decent cleaner, I will probably let it soak for a half hour or so and then hit it with the power washer.

i've used watered down bleach, squeegeed off, and shot it with a pressure washer... always seemed to work for me.

I use muratic acid for etching a concrete when I am going to paint it.

If you just want to get the grease out.

Use some Varsol or lacquer thinner first.

Then use T.S.P. with laundry detergent

Then rinse with a bucket of hot water

Make sure the broom/brush is stiff.

Tide with bleach worked in with a push broom and then hit with a pressure washer worked pretty good for me.
