another newbie question

i have a 94 f250 with the 7.3l non powerstroke turbo diesel auto trans and 4.10rear

question
while im starting from a stop the engine is making a kazzo sound (only thing i can come up with)
now i know some turbos whine a little but this almost sounds like a high pitched exhaust leak

but i cant seem to find one

anythoughts??

do you have an intercooler ? if so check the jump hoses in the system. Do you have guages, if so check the hose connection in the boost guage. Is one of the engine mounts weak and letting the fan rub the shroud ? Check the fins on the compressor (ntake) side of the turbo and make sure they aren't rubbing the housing. Can you make th noise in park/neutral ?

no intercooler or guages yet
i cant make the noise without the engine being under load meaning in gear goin down the road

i just put in a carquest air filter and have not checked the turbo blades (im guessing that all you have to do for that is remove the top of the airbox that says ford turbo?)

thanks guys
im great with gassers but this is my first diesel

the truck runs and drives great so if that rules anything out cool

there is a little black on the firewall behind the turbo
could the down pipe have a leak? how hard is it to change a DP?

sorry for all the questions

take the lid off the air box and the jump hose from the lid to the intake of the turbo and look at the blades of the turbo compressor. give it a wiggle and see if you can make the blades rub the housing. There should be some play felt in the wheel, but not enough to hit the housing. in/out ,,, up/down and virtually free spinning.
OH, do this with the engine off.,, the compressor wheel is one helluva meat grinder.

The blackening is where th high pitch leak probably is. You'll have to look carefully to find it. But you have narrowed it down. Get a mirror to look at back side.
