i have a 93 five speed 7.3-nonturbo f250, well the truck is sound, but i want a little more power from it. what all can i do to it for a reasonable budget. also i have a 94 f350 with a turbo(blown head), i was wondering if i can swap all that over to my truck? or is there more to it than that?
Yes, you can swap all the turbo "stuff" from the 94 onto the 93.....assuming the 94 is an IDI and not a Powerstroke.
would the 94 down pipe bolt to the 93 factory exhaust? and yes, it's the pre-stroke turbo motor. would the turbo hurt the truck or stress the motor more? cause it's pushing near 380k on the factory motor. with some white smoke when i let off the gas pedal.
You say "white smoke" after engine is hot. Check to see if your antifreeze is OK. Wondering if you have the beginning of a head gasket problem.
Your other question about stress. The more HP you have the more stress you have on components. With 380 K on the engine I would wonder how much longer it would last with more stress added.
well the 93 that smokes never really needs antifreeze, the last time i added some was four months ago, and i checked it last week and it's still green and topped off. but oil, i add near a quart a week, cause the pan and valve covers leak, and im almost possitive the valve seals are blown or are going out, but the smoke is never a bluish color, and i dont know of any local diesel mechanics to check it out...
and the 94 has exhuast coming out of a vertical crack straight through the head near a head bolt.
