cant get fan clutch in

I've been fighting to reinstall the clutch fan for too long. The shop manual says to install it along with the shroud, and I am not having much luck. Its so hard to square it up and then tighten it.I can only get my hands at 10 and 2 oclock, and only can turn it to 11 and 3 oclock.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

not sure if you have this option but when I did it I had somebody else under the truck helping support it from the bottom and also turn it a little bit. It was just enough to get it started. somebody else may be able to help more.

I use a prybar to help support the fan in the center of the clutch. I put the prybar against the top of the radiator for leverage, and once I have the fan squared up, I use my free hand to spin the fan. It takes some patience and coordination, but it is the easiest way I know of, besides having an assistant turn the fan nut with a wrench while you hold the fan.

You guys are awesome thank you for your input. For now I gave up on it, I just ordered 2 16" electric fans, 2500cfm each, that I'm gonna go with instead of using the clutch fan. I was reading of all the benefits and am sold on the idea, (increased hp,fuel mileage, and water pump life).Eventually the clutch fan will need replacing anyway and the cheapest I found was $179. I got the 2 fans for $82.25, and my electrical wizard friend is gonna wire em up for me. I think its a smart move, I hope I dont regret it.

Thats a great idea. Electric fans are more "gooder". Good work!
