New CPS ???????????

Has anyone else heard the rumor??

Effective May 1, 2007 Camshaft Schyncronizer part number F7TZ12K073A will be discontinued and replaced with F7TZ12K073B at a list price of $25.00.

Ford did something similar just prior to the ignition switch recall. New Number lower price and 1 month later recalled the ignition switches.

That all assumes that we have confidence in their ability to get it right THIS time.

My spare will stay right where it is, riding along with me in the glovebox.

But, we can only hope...

Like Pop said, hopefully they get it right this time.

Sure would be nice to pay only 25 bucks for one.

Even if it's not more reliable, at least it'll be cheaper to replace.
What's the source, and is it reliable?

Man...I just got back from Iraq so I'm a little bit behind on the times, so what's the deal with ignition recall?
And CPS? I'm still running the original, and what's the matter with it?

Welcome back, and thank you for your efforts.

Nothing is wrong with your CPS, unless something is wrong with your CPS. They have a habit of failing, and the replacement is typically around $100 or more depending if you buy it from International, Ford, or somewhere else. Apparently the International and Ford versions are better than the aftermarket versions. Most here carry a spare in the glove box; takes a few minutes to swap it out.

Can't help you with the ignition as I don't know anything about the issue.

Solid Ground - Ford had an Ignition Switch several years ago and did the same deal with the price of the part just prior to the recall. NOT THE SWITCH FOR OUR TRUCKS.

Heard it from my neighbor he works in the Fleet maintenance department, I cant see ford doing a recall but they have done price drops on troublesome parts before.
