Uppipe Leak Help
In chasing what appeared to be "weaker than it ought to be boost" I found an exhaust leak at the top of the drivers side up pipe at the connection to the turbo inlet manifold. All else, both sides looks tight.
The question is can I replace that u-pipe doughnut w/o having to pull the turbo, or disconnect the entire u-pipe?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The answer to your question is no. IMO the easiest way to replace that donut is to remove the up-pipes themselves. You may want to have a new replacement set handy to install as there will be a deep groove worn into the pipe where the gasket made contact.
The hardest part of the whole job is gaining access to the top bolts, especially on the passenger side.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Repeat after me; I hate working on exhaust, I hate working on exhaust...
Why does replacing the entire u-pipe sound so much more painful than pulling the turbo... Looks like the turbo needs to come out to get to the top of the passenger side u-pipe anyway?? How far into the turbo inlet do the u-pipes go? If it is very far, and you attack the problem from the top, I'm assuming that both u-pipe tops will need to be disconnected in order to get the required travel out of the turbo inlet? Liquid wrench, prayer, and snapped bolts... Quite possibly a new turbo inlet as well I'm afraid.
The deep grove you refer to: I'm assuming you are talking about the manifold end of the u-pipe?

The best penetrating oil that I can find in this area is called Free-all. I blows Liquid wrench, wd -40 right out of the water.
If you cannot find any call me at work or stop by, info is in my profile and I will get you a can of it. You can order it from Interstate battery if you need to. Or stop by at a repair shop on your side and see if they can get you some. It's the only stuff to use IMO.
