Pickup box year compatability

I have a 96 F-150 with a short box, dual tanks, and I need to find a replacement for it. What years will be compatabile with my truck?

A bed from 88 up will be the same. The only diffrence is the tail gate. 93 up the tail gate is smooth without the letters indented in the gate.

Hello rbloodhound, I could be wrong but isnt the box from 87 and up the same. 87 is when they changed to the newer body style with the more rounded tail lights not like the 86 and down with the more blocky looking lights.

yes i never can remember if it is 87 or 88. I have a 88 so i new it was right

I believe he could use a bed from 1980 up to 1996 if he wasn't particular about tail light or tailgate trim style.
