This years project in my shop is going to be a 1974 F350 Dually. It has an old stake box on it and I want to replace it with a standard dually pickup box.
Does any one out here know where I can get such a box?
Ford did not make a Dually Fleetside Box until 1980. However, there are "fender flares" available aftermarket that I have seen on some Ford Dualies from 73 to 79. They look similiar to Dodges Duallies in the 80's.
You cuold take an 80's box and change the body contour on it...
Or do what I did, build one yourself! After I converted my single rear wheel to a dually rear end, I bought the fiberglass outer fenders off of an 87 Ford Stepside for 60 bucks from the salvage yard which had flat sides where they mounted to the 87 truck bed. I ground the fiberglass sides to match the contours of my 79 and then fiberglassed my own mounting brackets to the inside of the fender. I mounted studs to the side of my bed and bolted up the fenders with a thin poly weatherstrip between the fender and the bed side. A LOT of work, but I saved a good amount of money and I love the way it looks! Good luck!
