truck was running, bumped some wires that i was messing with that are connected to the ignition wire, truck died, won't start, no dash lights when key is on ignition. truck turns over. ideas?
for a couple weeks been trying to get some switches for lights and turbo timer hooked up. been having trouble getting turbo timer to work so do not have the switches properly shoved under dash. set something on wires and slid it and seemed to have shorted out. unhooked them and checked fuses but no luck
1. What exact wires were you messing with (Color and system if you know)
Could have shorted the VSM but need to trace those wires to see what system they are tied to, could be something as simple as a broken wire in the column harness. Is it a manual or Auto Tranny?
have an '02 w/ auto. the hot wire for the switches were coming out of the fuse panel with a pre-existing connector that pulls power from the spade of a fuse. the turbo saver was pulling power from a switch which was pulling power from the cigar lighter and was also connected to the red and yellow wires off of the pyro, and also to the ignition wire, which is where the gauges are pulling there juice.
what is a vsm, and would that make the power windows and radio not come on when the key is on accessory. it just seems so much like a fuse but i pulled every one of those little pigs and were all okay. could it be a relay?
Not sure on the 02, Just pop the hood and look on the drivers side near the steering column, should be a fuse box there with the relays and larger fuses. Still sounds like a blown fuse to me.
want to thank all that helped. ended up being one of the pink tall fuses that didn't look blown, but evidently was bad so replaced. thanks for all the responses. it lives!!!
