ive built alot of hot rods + the best header paint ive found is high temp paint with the ceramic in them, but you want to cure'em + the best way i found is to get an old electric oven(not gas+dont do it in the house!!smell's+smoke's bad) + bake'em at450 for an hour or so ,runin them on the car gets'em to hot to quick! just read the can , but best of all is to send'em out + get'em ceramic coated but that's not allway's in or budget

I stuck my headers on the barbecue grill to heat them up. I know, I know, I was using barbecue paint too. I have had my headers glowing red, from the engine, and the paint has yet to flake. I prepped my headers with coarse sand paper and used acetone to wipe them down. I have had the headers off, and the paint is still on the inside as well. Preparation is key, IMO. Just remember, if you do heat them up, take extra precaution if you used a flammable cleaner. You might get more than you bargained for
