Thoughts on school shootings
As to the Virginia Tech gunman i think loopholes in the law need to be closed the computers between the nuthouse and the jail need to be linked and anything that one is cited for should be checked so that when they punch in the name birthday etc it comes up with everything then let someone manually check to see whether the contact with police was a moving violation, a jaywalking ticket or a mental meltdown. Maybe they should have a three day waiting period from the time you apply to buy a gun and the time you pick it up so they can check to find out if you should have one or not
whatever the case tho guns should not be outlawed
it is a truly sad world we live in when people are unwilling to give up an object that was made for one thing and one thing only. TAKING A LIFE!!!! Whether it be animal or human that is what firearms were invented for

and what is even sadder is living in a world which the gov would love to shove its authority down its throat but can't do to the threat of an armed uprising by the people, so then it keeps the gov in check.
So? he could have bought them at the local store...what's the point?...there's no laws against buying gun parts; other than recievers...I am a teacher and an avid gun collector and hunter, member SCI and NRA, CA Pistol and Rifle and all points made the truth lies in the problem of why, not how. Realize that "how" is only a minor detail for someone set on commiting such a crime. I used to have a CCW in my prior job, but the NTA would never allow teacher to carrry weapons to politically incorrect. I carry a large folder and was called on it by an administrator...I pointed out that the laws state "...no student", however..."faculty, classified or unclassified may [carry] knives on site...[for] personal use". Never heard anything more about it.
I honestly think in our society of complaciency that PC has gotten to the point these things combined with the glorification of violence in media, have given rise to the disreguard of human life.

Being on guard all the time may be too difficult for some too handle, but when it comes down to it, at some point the theory of survival of the fittest will take affect. The slow kid may not kid away, the dummie with the headphones on, sitting a daze from a 40 of beer may not get away.
Staying alert at all times may be one the best ways to stay alive.
No controls or legislation of anykind will protect us...if it isn't a gunman, it may be a speeding drunk, or a terrorist. There are 1000's of ways to get killed. There was noway to stop that gunman! IF there wasn't one gun in the entire country, he may have made a bomb. If there were no explosives available, he would have set a fire. If the building was fire proof, he could have run a car right down the sidewalk and run them over.
Don't forget John wayne Gacy either..he lured 33 victims to his hell-hole with rewards and kindness. Like I said..1000's of ways too die.
I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained

The cold, hard, "sad" world in which we live dictates that there are those who live in this "sad" world who really need their lives taken away from them......If only someone who was in the right place at the right time had taken Cho's life away from him before he decided it would be a good idea to butcher 32 productive lives in his sick rampage.......We'd be better off then, would we not?........For damn sure, the victims and their families would be.......
As to why people did not “man-up” and try to stop this “individual”. My first thing to do in a crisis situation is lock down my room and get my kids into a safe place. From there my job is to keep my student calm and make sure that nobody enters the room. The most offensive weapon I have in my room is metal rods for lab set-ups. We have been told that if the CRT (SWAT) enters the room they WILL shoot people that are standing up, because they will be perceived as a threat and eliminated. As you can see, my hands are tied just trying to keep 25 or more teenagers quit and off their phones. I also have three doors to guard, but it someone did try to get into the room, I can say that they would have a broken arm as I would use the rods. I WILL go home at the end of the day.
I have a CCW, but it is illegal for me to have my gun on campus and I could/would lose my job if I did have it.
Also remember that the media is a prime problem with some issues. When is the last time you heard good news about anything?
