speedo and odometer not working

greetings,
I have a 92 f250 7.5L 4WD. about 5 days ago I changed the battery since the old one well was old. and since then I do not have a speedo or odometer. I checked the fuses and there all good. I tested the cruise control and that does not work also (but my horn does) my RABS light not not blink any error codes upon startup so I believe the rear sensor is still good. I would like to remove the CC unit and see if the solves the speedo problem but I can not find when the stupid thing is. I do not need the CC since it is only drive about 30 miles everyday (who would drive that gas hog any longer? i wanted power not high mpg) any advice you all can shead on this will be helpful. I have some testing tools and can read a schematic so if you have one with test points that could help a lot. I'm a Active duty person so funding for the dealership is not really an option so i want to stay away from that if possible.

Here is a diagram of the speedometer System for your truck.

Maybe you lost the PSOM.

The PSOM is dead center in the back of the cluster. The Speedometer plugs into it with four pins. The Odometer uses a ribbon cable to plug into the PSOM.

How The Circuit Works

The Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module receives a speed signal input from the Differential Speed Sensor (DSS), and uses a programmed conversion constant to convert the signal to the standard 8000 pulses per mile speed signal output. The speed signal output is proportional to the road speed of the vehicle. The Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module supplies this signal to all components that require vehicle speed information including the Speed Control Amplifier, the Transmission Electronic Control Assembly (TECA) (with diesel engine), and the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Module (with gasoline engine).

I would think that you could just unplug it.
Here are the diagrams for it and its plugs.

You can try another PSOM.
Just buy a cluster from a salvage yard and take the PSOM out of it and put it in your cluster. If you get one without a tach. then they are only about $40.00 for the cluster.
