Check Engine light - PO299

I got a check engine light last weekend so I took it to the dealer Wednesday morning. PO299, told me it needed a new turbo and that the vanes were stuck open on the old one. I also had an oil leak on the drivers side of the rear of the engine, they said it was the cam position sensor. Picked up the truck yesterday. It seems a little torqier now. I think I had approx 18700 miles on it. Are the newer turbos a better design, or will I have a problem again in the future?

Thanks

well it is tough to say. if you have a 06 and you are putting 18k on it by now, then you are doing all you can to work the turbo. rust will kill a turbo no matter what you do and it might have started rusting before you bought it via "lot rot". just keep doing what you are doing, and this one should be better for you.

Well, the service advisor said it was clean inside when the mechanic inspected it, so I was happy to hear that.
