Well the Truck has been running great since I put it together last june. Rebuilt 302 w/MAF ,rebuilt trans . But I was on way home and had to stop for a car that was turning and I only had 2nd gear (sort of)luckly I was only 15 miles from home (I work 75 miles from house. )32000 is a the second shortest time I had one last the other was 8000 miles.
So instead of a nice weekend at Carlise Auto swap meet looks like I'll be putting the spare trans in. I can do it in a day but I have other plans also this weekend .
Hope you all have a nice week end.
You didn't blow the fuse for the dome light did you? This will cause (strangely enough) the transmission to go into a limp mode; the overdrive light will flash on the shifter and the transmission will not go anywhere past 2nd gear. It also increases line pressure so the shift from first to second is VERY jarring. If your overdrive light is flashing then this could be your problem, otherwise you need a new tranny :-( Ever think of swapping to a ZF or M5OD? I'm going to eventually make the swap with my E4OD takes a dump. Good luck!
No lights flashing and clean fluid. I never had one go like that (with clean fluid) . Usually overdrive goes and burnt fluid. If you get on it it will shift and stay in that gear till you let up. I'm going to call trans shop and see they just rebuilt my spare trans well was spare trans. Thanks
Got tranny out in 1 1/2 hrs . Now have to wait till next Friday to get it . They said it may just be electrical but if I would have left and would have been something else in truck it would have been $ 1200 more $600 -1200 depending on what needs . Only had 36000 miles on it and fluid is clean no shavings .

Reason: missed left out things
We didn't call it the E40DUMB for nothing. Burned up 2 in a month while driving service rigs in Washington state. Glad my F-350 had the C-6, Worse milage but way more dependable.
my 1995 f350 blew its e40d 2 weeks after i droped money for all new weld wheels and swamper ssr tires and a 2 inch lift. nothing better than spending 2000$ then 2 weeks later speneding another 2000$ for a complete trans rebuild.
