Hey, I want to buy a bronco now, but i have a few questions. How come when i look in the classefides, that in 87, there are Bronco II's and Full size broncos. Which one would you say is better. What year are the recent full sizes made? From 87 to like 96 maybe? Also, I need to know what engines were on the bronco II, and if the 2.9 V6 is strong enough for medium off-roading. Which model do you guys reccomend for a mix of off and on road. Also, how is insurance on these two models, if any of you know, cause im just getting my liscense, and money kinda is an issue, and id rather not get a truck that i cant afford insurance on. Thnaks!!
A Bronco is a big truck, and a Bronco II is a little truck. They are based on an F150 and Ranger, respectively. Most Bronco II's are pieces of *****. And they roll. My friend rolled his coming into his driveway. So get a big Bronco. Also, all Bronco II's are not 4X4, where all big Broncos are. The only benefit of a Bronco II is that it does get better gas mileage. Big Broncos are very bad on gas, whether you get a 302 or a 351, even a 300 straight 6 is bad, but not as bad. If you have a choice, definitely get the 351 over the 302. The 302 is underpowered and you won't see much of a difference in gas mileage between the 302 and the 351, if at all. So go for the extra power. The 351 is even underpowered, in my opinion. I'm glad I don't have a 302! The 300 straight 6 is actually an excellent motor, I had one in an F150 and liked it. The only thing is, if you want a loaded Bronco, you'll have a tough time finding one with a 6 banger. If you don't care about power windows and all that fancy stuff, find a Bronco XL with a straight 6 and a manual transmission. That motor will last the longest and get the best mileage. As far as insurance, you will probably pay a little more for 4WD as opposed to 2WD, but that is with any 4X4, not just a Broncos.
