2005 f150- console shifter
Can anyone tell me how to remove the top section of the gear shir handle on my 2005 F150 Super Crew Lariet. This located on the console in the center of the floor. The top chrome (plastic piece broke loose) and the dealer only sales a complete replacement part for the top portion of the shifter including the button. I have the part but need to know how to get the original off and put the new one on.

mine also popped off (broke). i took some jb weld and slopped it on teh backside of it and reattached it and has stayed since. the jb weld said it was for metal but it has worked for about 6months with no prblem and i dont forsee any.

Thanks- My plastic - imitation chrome top cap is also scratched so I thought I might change out the whole thing if I can figure out to get the old one off and the new one on. As you know there is no screw on top- so I am thinking the key must me in the push button cover removal but not sure and do not want to make a mess of things.
