Depending on the HP/TQ your putting out, you may have issues with parts breaking. How much is your 351 putting out? Does your bronco have the 8.8 rear in it and D44 front?
Yeah you're right on the axles. As for what the 351 is putting out, I'm not really sure since I have stock fuel and intake, but it is built to put out well over 350hp. I guess I should mention that the torque convertor was specially built by TCI for this application, not sure about the 4x4 though.
well if TCI built the converter for that truck with that cam I doubt it's 2800 stall. You have to give them the right info for them to build the converter. And I just don't understand all this stuff about breaking parts, do you guys think it's like dumping the clutch when it hits 2800. It don't hit hard at all, only with a trans brake will it hammer the axles off the line. If anything it will have a softer start and shifts until you are over the stall...thats when you fell the shift kit pound the gears. In my truck with the 3000 stall it was just like any converter off the line...well sure if I hammered it to the carpet it would blister the tires cause the converter would let the engine slip a little higher to where it was making power, but you have to start off from a dead stop and just hammer the gas to get it to stall and you would be luck to hit the calibrated stall. It takes some tire speed or truck movement to hit it. I could putt through town like everyone else or fry the tires 1st and 2nd from a light.
I would call tci and give them all the info you can on the truck...see what they say.
in a truck with any kind of performance cam you are moving the power band higher....complete the package with the right stall converter and gears......you will be much happier with your mods......
hello! I have...sometimes I think I'm wasting my time typing
In the vid of my truck on the dyno I'm running a 2000 stall C6....can't realy tell it's not stock. listen to it when he puts it in gear the motor drops in rpm just like a normal converter....and the truck jumps a little.
before that i ran a 3000 stall non-lockup street fighter in an AOD with wide raito gear set and 4.56 posi not a problem wheeling as long as you have a great big *** cooler on it. Didn't break a thing.............
ran a 3500 stall edge converter in a MII
ran a 4000 stall in my truck that had the lockup and it sucked big time.
anyone eles...........????
350hp you said ..think you could tell us the combo that got you to 350 plus hp.
Hey Dallas, in my 93 F150 4x4 I'm running a 2300 stall Precision Industries triple clutch convertor. I like it, but you really, really need to make sure you use a hella big cooler, preferably a stacked plate type with a cooling fan for low speed 4x4 off road applications. By the way, popped that 8.8 twice with 35" tires on her. Its just getting finished up with a straght D60 front and D70 rear in it and 38" tires, we'll see how it goes....

Ok, I've finally figured out all the info I need for ya'll to get me the best advice. The convertor was not built by TCI, it was built by Precision Industries. The approximate stall range is 2800 to 3000, it's a single disk convertor(I could use more information from ya'll about exactly what that means). The folks at Precision Industries said that I CAN wire up a lockup switch, but I will glaze the clutch eventually. However, I have a warranty until December, according to them, and between now and then if I burn it up the fix is free. Need ADVICE, please.
If anyone REALLY wants to help, it would be nice if you'd check out their installation manual on their site to give me the best advice http://converter.com/
Thanks everyone

I don't know when you bought it but when I got my PI triple disk lock up coverter they said if you don't like the stall you can send it back and they'll put a lower or higher stall in it for free. One time I think.
If you can,, I would see if you can trade it in on a triple disk lock up with a 2300 or 2500 stall.
Yeah, they said that the first stall adjustment is free, except for shipping. As for going to triple disk, they said something like $400, which I don't have right now. But, since I have the warranty, I guess I could burn this one up until then and then pay $400 to get the triple disk, right?? Sounds kind of crooked I know, but the person who works their basically told me I could, so I have no reason to feel bad about it.
I would seriously consider having PI change the stall down to 2000-2300 with lock-up, since you stated your cam comes in at around 2K. I think 2300 is the lowest PI can go, at least on the triple disk unit. Your going to like your set up alot better if things are matched for drivability, off-roading and avoiding excessive heat build-up.

351w bored .040 over Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Trick Flow cam(I think the link is in one of my earlier posts) 1.6 roller rockers, hydraulic roller lifters
stock fuel and air(I know someone will jump my butt about this, but upgrades come with money and money comes with time)
Also, I might have the heads shaved a little bit, any suggestions on this???
