I mean the whole fruity outfit thing for tim mcgraw, recently, im seeing earrings and metrosexual dress. They just put on a cowboy hat to fit it. It sucks. Im slowly phasing myself from listening to any of it and trying to get back to Robert Earl Keen, Kevin Fowler, etc.
not into all that "POP COUNTRY" like rascal flatts, kenny chesney....If you aint heard it yet, look into Texas country, like Kevin Fowler, Pat Green, Roger Creager, Randy Rogers Band, Cross Canadian Ragweed(the new CCR), Cory Morrow etc. Most country on like CMT and stuff is too emotional for me but then again thats waht country is. Most of the Modern country stars are all preppy and stuff they just SING country they arent country.
I'm with you fellers. With few exceptions, I don't care for too much of the recent country music. I had high hopes for Big & Rich but they are letting me down with their latest song.
At home, I usually listen to the XM station "America" over the Direct TV. In the car, I have a 1 GB memory chip loaded with good country music from the 70's and early 80's that I play on a cheap player that plugs into the cigar lighter. I can go hours without hearing the same song twice.
Some, certainly not all, of the new stuff is pretty good. Kinda like southern rock that was made popular back in the 70's. You will never find me changing the station when George Strait is on. As for CMT, they are going the way of MTV and VH1 if you ask me. I have a block on MTV and VH1 cause I have kids. CMT will be blocked too if they can't clean it up. Classic country will be found on my radio more and more.
You mean you won't let your kids watch Flav o' Flav in that horrendously disgusting "Flavor of Love". What are you trying to be, a good father or something?
There's some good stuff now. I don't think the best of today is as good as the best of 30 years ago (Waylon, Wille, Merle, etc.), but the good stuff is pretty good. There's a lot of crap, and a lot that's not country, but I suspect that may have been true 30 years ago, too (though maybe not quite so much).
I'll listen to country radio above other stations, but I prefer a CD or my iPod. (Which is good, since the AM/FM in my pickup doesn't work right now...)
I haven't heard a decent country song since the early 90s.
Same thing with me I don't even listen to the radio that much anymore in my truck. I am always listening to a CD or my iPod. One reason is my reception is poor because I think my antenna wire is gone to hell. I like the old country not this new Pop Country.
I love the current new country (I still hate the women singers' songs (no offence ladies) but their songs suck!)

Understood, but the women singers are hotter than the devils chilli farts. The only reason I watch CMT is for the women. Not really a country fan. I just like the women.
Most , but not all of the new stuff I refer to as crossover pop drool. If I listen to enough of it I'll wind up crosseyed and drooling.I think it's because the new stuff for the most part lacks the hard driving rhythm of the 70's era stuff. It's just a little too prissy for me.
