Hello, I've got a '88 F250 with grey/silver paint; the truck is in pretty good shape but it's got some surface rust starting in places and the paint is very faded. I want to repaint using a single stage Ford True Blue color (the color of my '06 E-350. I've been told the best thing to do is rough up the existing paint for preparing for the blue paint job.
Question: What grit of paper to use to rough up the surface for good paint adhesion but not scratch the heck out of it? Also, what's the best power tool to use; I was thinking of a variable speed random orbital sander?
Also, do I need to use wet/dry paper during this process and keep the surface wet?
Thanks,
Jim
