Ok guys I have decided to put some of my overtime money into stacks. I don't know what I want though.
First off, 3" or 4"??? I am pretty sure performance wise it makes no difference, but looks. Do 3" look to small? I just don't see that many trucks with stacks so Its hard for me to picture them. (I plan on getting the ATS snorkel replacement at the same time)
Secondly, I do a lot of driving at 75 to 85mph for hours (10-12) at a time and I like to listen to the raido. Now days I drive unloaded, but I plan on getting a 30' camper to pull from job to job. I was wondering should I put a muffler or not?
And lastly. I was thinking of having them turned toward the rear, instead of straight pipe, but a guy at work said Flappers would be cool. I thought hummmm that would be cool.
Ya'll let me know what ya know, and what ya think. Thanks!

Been thinking about the stacks myself for my 79 F150 4x4. But the only one's I've found are 36" long, 3 or 4". The 36's just don't even go to the top of the cab. I like the angle cut just for the look, the flat cut with rain caps is a nice touch. But they may make quite abit of noise unless you're really blowing some exhaust out to keep them open.
I'll up load a picture of my stacks they are 5" peterbuilt take offs that i bought from peterbuilt for like 30 bucks a piece, i'll try to get a picture of them uploaded so you can see what they look like on a pickup
The muffler portion. I would be cautious. As some places are strict on noise and others really don't care. Especially when you tow the 30 ' trailer it could get really loud. Ask the locals on this who have the stacks if they have had any noise tickets.
i have 5" stacks on my 99 they look good i don't have a picture yet but there should be pics of my old truck with 4" stacks in my profile those looked good on my 94
Anything under 5 inch wouldn't look good... I would suggest 5 inch. Just my opinion, but that's what I'm gonna use for my truck. Also, it would sound amazing without a muffler, but you will not be able to hear the radio.
Going to Peterbuilt, or another truck line and getting some take-off's might be a way to go. If you boy's have some pictures I like to see them. But with or without mufflers, that would be nice to hear.
Well this is what I am in the prosses of doing and its the same setup as a friend of mine, who went through wyotechs performance section.... 5" stacks, the higth is going to detemine how loud they are going to be. If you plan on hauling a trailor then go with a tip that will direct exaust to the side of the bed or plan on washing the trailer alot. Im going 16" above the cab , which he has done and its not that bad. The turbo is mounted just under the bed on its side and the exaust comes straight through the bed and then Ys. This alows the turbo to run cooler and gets the heat away from the engine compartment. Weld a bung to the top of the oil pan for a return line and then you have a choice to run an inner cooller or not. Now this may not be the best way in some peoples opinion but it is an alternate way and does make room and work easier in my opinion. His truck sounds great and Im sure when mine is done it will too. Oh and if you want to see a little black smoke at WOT turn up the injecter pressure screw 1/6 th of a turn
Blowin'smoke, They look pretty cool on the 99. I would love to see the 94. Is your 94 a turbo? Did you put a muffler on the 94?
Thanks to all.
i've got them some where i'll try to get them posted on monday i don't have them on the computer i'm on right now and there's no muffler on either the 94 had the 3" ats downpipe put i did run the factory downpipe until the clutch went out then i changed it and did the turbo upgrade and i wasn't impressed w/ the turbo upgrade but it sounded better

i paid like 600 for the downpipe and everything for the stacks from Trans Am truck parts everything new 3 90's, 1 t-pipe for an international eagle semi, a 4" to 5" adapter,5' of 5" tube, some band clamps and 2 36" stacks. I welded most of the 94's exaust but a couple of the welds kept breaking. i haven't been stopped for noise and i drive in by Chicago 5-6 days a week for work
