Yesterday, I went to my GOOD parts store and they guy saw me bringing both U-joints in, he was just shaking his head like "Oh no, please no" After looking in books and comparing 5 different possiblities he had to order one and WE still dont know if it is right. I should bring that baby to the dealer counter just for the nostalgia factor. Those guys probably know off the top of their head.
Oh and Big Tony in Iraq, if you are reading this post, now you will get the little guy's letter about how the drive-line won't fit.
Why didn't you try the dealer first? Ford has the exact u-joints you are looking for. It takes 5 minutes to open a few boxes and compare joints...been there, done that. If I had known yesterday that the joints were composed of two different sizes, I could have saved you some time. These are Spicer (Dana) style joints.

Both the Ford & Dana numbers can be crossed over to the numbers of the brands sold by auto parts stores.
hang in there. It is ONE U-joint I am replacing. I brought the second improper u-joint as an example of what not to get. Besides, I like going to the good auto parts store. If it is not right, off to the dealer I go.
No offense, Bill but you'd have to --drag-- my stupid butt to the Ford dealer. :/
Got told -way-too-many-times- (me and) my pickup was obsolete! :/
If I never hear that O word again, it'll be too soon. ;)
Since I'll never buy another new Ford, I'll never have to go to a Ford dealer ever again. :)
Yippee.

Alvin woke up cranky in AZ
I did too...join the club.
The point is, a Ford dealer carries 30 different part numbered u-joints, the auto parts stores carry 100's. 1310 u-joints have been used since the 1950's, so any dummy worth his salt will waltz down the aisle, open two or three boxes, and find the correct one. Elapsed time..a coupla minutes, tops.
I love the O word. O = $$$$ I buy and sell NOS parts.
