1976 F-350, 390 4-speed, Flywheel machined, new clutch, new throwout bearing, new engine. When the engine is running there is a rattling humming whining resonantion coming from under the floor. If you push the clutch pedal in more than a half inch it goes completely away. If this a clutch not adjusted properely problem? Truck used to be a 300 6, would that make a difference on the clutch pedal travel?(i bet not)
maybe the front input bearing on the tranny, is the lube full, usually that would be a throwout bearing issue (what you described), the other thing moving when you push in the clutch is the contact between the flywheel and the input shaft..........it stops spinning
wait 500 miles or so. no matter how much grease is on the throw out bearing it makes some noise. after some mileage it will go away. in the last couple years i've done and had done a couple clutches and they all do it. different trucks different brands but all the same. usually less than 500 miles and its gone.
I pulled a clutch and brake unit out of a 1978 f150 and was told by wrecking yard guy that the inside clutch and brake unit is the same in th 1977-79 trucks, but the under the hood parts equalizer bar and rods and pivot bushing and how they mount to the frame and engine would be different from 300 6 to the v8's with some v8 being different depending on motor size.
On a visual inspection he seemed to know what he was talking about, however I did not do any measuring or fitting yet. So maybe the conversion form 300 6 to what you have is not aligned properly. Any one else with feed back.
I may just drive it for a while and see if it goes away. I think the pedal free play is set right so maybe i will be patient. All the engine clutch related parts came on the V8 we put in except for what we bought new, and all the parts under the dash are still the 6 cyl truck pieces which I think would be the same regardless of engine (i think)
From what I know, under the dash is the same, and sounds like you used the correct v8 parts. How is the tranny mount rubber, is it in good condition ? I also read about a vibration balancer behind the seat on the cab back wall for noises and vibration. May have nothing to do with your truck, but I know noises drive me nuts and I have looked at all possible causes.
