I took my fuel tank key off of my ring to make getting the key inside the fuel doors easier on refuels. The van only came with one key. To make a long story short I left it in my jean pants watch pocket & forgot I left the key in there when I tossed them to be washed. The key has not turned up yet from the wash & that has been 5 days or better.
Can I get a key guy to make a key after he gets the locks off or should I just cut the locks off somehow & start over?
Try this first, go and buy a locking gas cap from the local parts house, take the key and try it. You may have to give it a little jiggle and play with it for a minute but it should work it around to unlock it. You can also find a tool man, particularly matco; I know they have them, Tell him you want a gas cap pick tool. They sell a complete master lock pick set, and he'll try to sell you the whole thing but tell him you just need a replacement cap pick and buy it. There's only two sides to the pick and there hasn't been a cap I couldn't unlock with that pick yet. Should cost you about ten bucks or so, either way.
You could also probably go and get a replacement key from the dealer if they are factory installed, don't know if they are or not?

Thanks guys, great ideas, I'll give it a shot! I don't know if they're factory installed, but now at least I have some sort of plan.
Well I followed your suggestions I did get both of the locks off. The key worked while the locks were installed both won't work off. So needless to write, I'm not goig to put them back on. I have an appointment with a key guy tomorrow morninig to see if he can tweek the key & make me some spares.
