HELLO EVERYONE. I HAVE A 91 FULLSIZE BRONCO WITH THE 302. THE STOCK EXHAUST IS JUST A LITTLE TO QUIET FOR ME. I ALSO WANT MORE POWER. I HAVE SEEN A PACE SETTER TFX EXHAUST SYSTEM IN THE JC WHITNEY CATALOG FOR A MERE $175. I HAVE ALSO LOOKED AT THE ARMOR COAT PACE SETTER SHORTY HEADERS FOR $289 FOR THE PAIR. THESE PRICES SEEM TO BE PRETTY LOW. I HAVE JUST COME INTO THE BRONCO WORLD AND NOT TO FAMILIAR WITH THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PACE SETTER PERFORMANCE LINE. CAN ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT ANY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES ON THE SUBJECT.THE ONLY MODIFICATION TO THE BRONCO RIGHT NOW IS A K&N FILTERCHARGER. ALSO, WOULD AN AIR FILTER, HEADER, AND EXHAUST COMBINATION INCREASE PERFORMANCE OR WOULD IT MESS UP THE COMPRESSION OF THE SYSTEM?
THANK YOU EVERY ONE, JASON
Honestly, I can't speak for the quality of their headers and full exhaust systems. I can speak for several of their mufflers from several years ago..... they were crap. I would hope that they have improved their products, and maybe they have..... they ARE still in business. The lower price is tempting, I agree. Although, if anyone else should post comments similar to mine, I'd spend the extra money and purchase another, higher quality brand. On the header end, the names JBA and Bassani come to mind. For exhaust, look to Gibson, Flowmaster, Dynomax, or Borla.
I made the mistake of ordering Pace Setter full (long) headers and exhaust. The system now lies in the bushes behind my garage. However, the Shorty Headers (ceramic coated) are excellent and a true replacement for stock manifolds.
I am currently using them with a system I got from an outfit is Houston, who supplied the entire system, header-back for around $450.00 (five years ago) including Y pipe, cat and muffler.
FYI, the only difference between the '86 and the '87 systems is the location of the hangers on the pipes. The *& style will fit just fine.
