Okay, the time has come to pop some new tires on my Bronco! I have a 95 XLT Sport, all white (yes I get called OJ). I am running a stock height suspension with new Rancho RS 5000 shocks. I want a tire that will be quiet on the highway (I drive 60 miles round trip every day) and reasonably good off road. I have had the Yokohama Geolanders recommended by my local tire shop. Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Also what size can I stick in the wheelwell without a rubbing problem? I currently have 31 x 10.5 mounted on stock rims. THe tire shop says that 33s are going to rub and that 32s are pretty much a dead size and hard to come by. The quote is $500 for all for Yokohamas (31 x 10.5, mounted, balanced, installed. Any help would be appreciated!

We have a 96 bronco w/Good Year At/S 32x11.50's on 8.." AR Outlaw II rims (see Gallery for a pic). They ride better over expansion strips on the road, but of course are a bit louder than the stock GY HTS's (235's). We bought them from a local tire shop 2 years ago for $140.00 each incl mtg and balancing, etc.
they rubbed on driver's side bumper and valence strip at first; a bumper adjustment and a thin cut off the edge of the valence solved that easily.
I just had a set of Explorer Pro Comp AT's installed yesterday, and they are great. They have a severe weather rating in all 50 states, and are extremely quiet. I picked up the 4 tires (31x10.5) at 4Wheel Parts for $350 for all four tires. $60 to install at Big O Tires. They are running a special on buy 3, get one free right now. If I hadn't gotten a deal on these, I would have went with the Big O XT's, as I do a lot of driving in the snow, and all the trucks in my area swear by them for snow and off-road driving. BF Goodrich AT's are also another excellent choice. The Explorer Pro Comp's and BFG's both come in 32x11.5. All who have run them either have to trim very little, or none at all depending on the tire manufacturer.
Richwho, I have the same bronco as you and had Yoko super diggers 5 on put on when I first bought the truck. They were a nice looking tire with a blocky tread pattern and filled the wheel well nicely. Very tough tire, a bit stiff and a little noisy on the bronco. Got good milage on em and worked fairly well in most situations. In snow though I wasnt impressed and thought I was in 2 wheel drive when i got into some snow. I looked at the geolander when it was time to replace em and its tread pattern didnt look all too diff. from the previous tire with its rounder block patterns. I guess it would do just as bad in snow as the tire I had on so I passed on em.
I went with some Toyo Open Country tires that had smaller block with lots of sipping. Much quieter on the highway than the Yokos and rides nicer (not as stiff, the bronco is stiff enough). Havnt tested em in snow yet but hope to in a week or so. It should do much better.
I appreciate the responses. The Geolanders were presented to me as being quiet and good in snow, slush, etc. After a little haggling I can get them out the door for $450 on the truck. But after hearing from you guys I may do a little more research into some other tires. Snow tractio nis very important to me, here in Michigan we tend to get a little snow over the winter It seems I have to spend all my money at once this year. I just got done having a flowmaster muffler installed (and having that pesky cat removed) when my radius arm bushings went. Then I had a brake pad disintigrate and eat a rotor. Now new tires! I love my Bronco, but I wish it wold stop being so demanding right before Christmas!
