AE code ????
I got a #8 cylinder balance fualt code when I did a cct today with AE. can anyone explain to me what this means, do I have a bad injector. all sounded good on the buzz test

Hmm, i would say if you had programming for a stock injectored truck, with an AE code injector (the LL#8 "cackle" injector") it could cause a code if you don't have one in there. Im not sure, someone who knows?
What i basically means is cylinder #8 is putting out more power than the other 7 friends, or less.

Without fuel return mods #8 is dead head and firing very closely folowing #6. The LL injector ford put in to fix cackle addressed this fuel starvation issue by slowing the fire on #8 when the LL was used. A 2000 didn't have the LL from the factory and CCT failures are not uncommon even though the cylinder and injector are fine. Ford fix is the LL injector and PCM programming to adjust CCT output for #8, our fix is a regulated return.

speaking of fuel reg. I shimmed the fpr on my truck about 4 months ago, it smoothed out the Idle and maybe a slight increase in throttle response, long story short I put the 4th fuel pump in 2 months on my truck today, took the shim out and all seems to be well. thank God for bosch's warrenty or I'd be screwed.

Clearing the input ports of there restriction and opening the dead head ports allows the problematic #8 to get fuel from both sides so it is not starved by the firing sequence of number 6. This can be done without raising pressure and putting extra load on the pump.
