2000 Expedition leaning on the right side
I just purchased a 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer. I was told it had an air suspension and that was the reason for the compressor noise when it first starts up. My question though is that it leans to the right side of the vehicle. The truck does have 178,000 miles on it. What is there that I can check?
Thanks

It might be a torsion bar. I had a '98 EB 4x4 and the torsion bar broke one night while the truck was parked in the garage. We heard a loud pop but when I went to investigate I could not find anything wrong. The next morning my wife called me at work and said that when she backed out of the garage the truck was leaning hard to the right. What I found was a 1" cast iron torsion bar that connected the front 'A' frame to a cross member on the frame about mid truck. the bar is about 4-5 feet long and it had broken near the middle of the bar.
I believe it was a $250 part and it should probable be installed by a mechanic due to the torsion that the bar needs to be put under. I was lucky, mine was still under warranty.
I've never had an expy with air suspension so it may have something to do with that.
Hope this helps.

There should be a switch under the dash on the passenger side. If you look under there you will see it. I think you have to turn you truck off then turn the air ride switch off, then start your truck with the air ride switch off, then turn the truck off and turn the air ride switch back on and your done.
