Turbo lag or growing problem?

I think that if I drive the truck too much longer the turbo is going to scatter and possibly fill the engine full of metal bits 
The tech stated to me (and added to the record) that he feels it is ok to continue to use the truck until the appointment on Monday even though the turbo is exibiting that noise. He stated that if id did come apart and suck debris into the clyinders that a new long block would be ordered and installed.
When I went to talk to him he was inside the engine bay of an F550 service truck replacing the turbo, EGR cooler and a few other things. Along side this truck was 2 different F350s both with their cabs off waiting for him. I think I can see why he had a bit of that "why me" attitude. When you're 1 of 2 diesel techs in a huge dealership you can get a bit burned out.
