Is there any foster parents out there? My wife and I have been recently approaved for Foster parents in GA. We are doing emergency foster and are looking to adopt in the future. We have already had one group come through doing emergency foster. I dont know if I want to get into long term foster though. I am afraid that if we have children for a long time (ex. several years) and then they go home, that I wont want to do it again. I am a big softy when it comes to kids. Any thoughts on the subject?
I have a neighbor who is now in her eighties who took in many foster kids over the years like 30 of them. She has always said how rewarding it is and yes its difficult to see them leave but the reward is to make a difference on the lives of kids who dont have all the advantages of a loving family. The funny thing is is that at least ten of these kids come back now as adults to visit this woman and bring their kids . They love her and appreciate all she did for them.. if you can do this i think its a wonderful way to give back to people and in reality that is what we are here for to help our fellow human
Thanks. I hope to make a difference in someones life. My father passed away 2 years ago at 56. We were talking with the minister about the funeral and the thought came to me, that my father never did anything to change the world he just made his little peice of it special. I would like to be remembered (some time a long time from now) in a similar way. I dont think a person could ask more than that.
I do foster care. Trust me, there is nothing in the world that is more rewarding than changing the life of a child. That's the short answer but there is little more that can be said.
