Got a thing in the mail form my Insurance telling me the VIN I gave them did not match my registration from state. I checked the registration and the VIN on the door and it does not match~! I cannot remember if the old title matched or not. Is there anywhere else to check for a vin other than the door? Any ideas what steps I may need to take to get this corrected if The title is wrong?
Thanks!

Thanks.Truck is a 65 F100, BTW.
On my 1965 F100, there's a VIN number stamped on the front crossmember directly under the crank pulley (352), The truck was built in San Jose, CA. There's a frame number also, not sure where that is, but someone here will know. Why is your door VIN different than what's on the registration? = The door was changed, and the original correct VIN plate wasn't installed on the replacement door.
I have not checked on any other years, but I know that in both a '60 F-100 and a 63 F-100, the frame duplicate VIN was on the top of the frame under the passenger seat. You need a mirror to see it if the cab is in place.
I once mentioned this to a CHP officer and he acted like I had stolen some sort of state secret. He would not even discuss it, but was suddenly very upset and red in the face.
Bill, Can you post or link a photo of your cross member number. I would love to see that. You could have a one of a kind item there.
dc, The vin is stamped on the top of the passenger side in two places. Once about where the front axle crosses under, and again under the cab. Sometime rust can make them hard to dig out, but it is there.

This may have been something that only the San Jose CA Assembly Plant did. Notice I said CA = California. Mebbe the CHP wanted a viewable VIN, so they could see it without getting their uniforms dirty. The engine went back in in 1983, and it's kinda hard to get a clear pic, as I added a triple sheeve pulley for the FACTORY Select-Aire (actually from a 64 Galaxie (C4AZ-19700-A), tho it was a NOS kit). I'll see what I can do...
