Socket Racks

Not sure where to even post it.. I'm locked out of Forum View so I can't turn all the Forums back on..

Anyone know of a Socket Holder? I bought one of them big socket tool sets with the carrying case but have since switched to a Toolbox to put all my equipment in.. I was using those Slide Rails with the lil clips but my damn sockets fall out and go everywhere in my toolbox.. Anyone know of anything else? Perhaps a socket tray or something..

The Hansen is my favourite for ease of use on the top of the tool chest in the shop but are not practical for in-truck use. A friend showed me a magnetic version which seemed to work okay for most sockets, except the big heavy ones, but still doesn't work too well when bounced around (it seems to be more for shop use). I've found that the spring-clip slide-rails do the best job of retaining the sockets.

In the truck I have a Craftsman socket set in the supplied plastic case, which I think is the best way to transport sockets because every piece has it's spot and you can easily tell if you're missing something. Mine even came with an extra storage section, which I've used for a clip-slide set of Torx sockets and a few extra extensions. I carry an ammo box for the other tools.

Yeah.. I'm thinking I may need to just put my tools back in the case it came with and use my toolbox for other stuff like DK and such.. or chains, ropes.. I dunno.. I just have sockets in the bottom of the box now.. I had the slide clips and they dont hold no more..

I use the Craftsman socket holders (not the spring clip type). The ones I have are made of a hard plastic or nylon and have a spring loaded ball on the side of the posts like those on a ratchet wrench. They seem to hold very well (much better than the spring clip type) YMMV

I agree with Rick K I also have the Cratfsman socket holders and they do work better that the old spring clip type...
Hey Storm what kind of spray in bed liner do you have, do you like it?

Cool, I didn't know Craftsman had a different holder. Will have to check those out.
