Post Cold weather tachometer

The factory in-dash tach on my 1980 Bronco only works in cold weather, untill the engine warms up. Can anybody give me input on this?

Cold weather tachometer

The only thing that comes to mind is this...... many times, ignition control modules will fail in a manner that causes them to work when cold, but go inop once warmed up. This has to do with the internal electronics, including circuits / resistors, breaking contact when the electronics and the epoxy surrounding them warms and expands. As the components cool, they contract and the circuits make contact once again (and the ICM starts working again). Perhaps the same events are happening with your tachometer, or the circuitry supporting it? I really don't know where to tell you to check, first. Maybe you'd want to begin by checking the connections from the tach to the printed circuit, and visually inspecting the circuit for any fine breaks or cracks. Just a couple of thoughts.....
