i dont know wether this has been asked before but im gonna ask any way. what would some good brands and products to get for a baseline stereo for my 1959 f100. first what is the best bang for your buck on head units. i want a am/fm/cd player ipod hookup would be nice too. i dont need any thing super fancy with little cartoons on the screen or nothing i just need something that gives the best sound for the money. what are good types of speakers to use. what else do i need for a good sounding stereo system. i will be listening to mostly rock if that makes any differnce.
Pioneer serves me well. For a little over a hundred bucks usually, you kind find a good Pioneer with IPOD/AUX hook ups. It also rarely skips even when I go bounding down bumpy ole dirt roads. If you have the room for it, I would also advise a small (10") or so sub woofer. With a small inexpesive amp you can have outstanding sound. I have a 10 in sub and the rest of my speakers are all stock. Still sounds great!
my space is limited (gas tank in cab) but i was thinking maybe two 8inch subs somewhere and then a speaker in each corner. this sound all right or is there a better place to put them
how much room do you have under the passenger seat? The amount of airspace you need with 2 8's, in my opinion, you'd do better with 1 10". There is always the options of a bazooka type tube.
thanks ill see where i can find to put stuff. thanks agian this isnt exactly my area of expertice. my 59s still shop clutter at the moment just trying to find ways to spend money i dont have. lol.
Pioneer’s headunits are not very good in my opinion. There is a reason why they are sold at Wal-Mart. I would look into Alpine. Their entry level stuff costs just as much as Pioneer and they obliterate Pioneer in every way possible. Alpine has a very nice I-Pod intergration feature that comes on their headunits. Their headunits allows you to control the i-Pod COMPLETELY through the headunit. You just hook the I-pod to one cable and you never have to touch it again. There is nothing to set up and its not complicated.
thanks, what are some good brands of headunits, speakers, amps, subs ect. where are some good places to buy this stuff. websites or something that have the best deals. also i was thinking of running either 3way 6x9 or 6x6 what is better round or oval. agian i dont need something real fancy, my trucks a truck not a ricer, but i want to have a great sounding audio system, for when i dont want to listen to the dual 3 inch exhaust. im sure ill have more questions later when i start to actully do something on this.
just got looking at some stuff and just wondering what type of amp you would suggest. there are 1channel 2channle and multi channel. what does this mean and what do i need.
If you are looking for an amp to run all your highs off I suggest a four channel amp. For your subs a two channel or one channel amp will be what you want.
i just replaced the oem radio (6 disc cd) in my 07 superduty with a pioneer model 4800 (last years model-06). it made a world of difference, and im using the factory speakers. i suggest you start by getting a decent head unit and some decent speakers, 4 of them if you have room. try that first, them if you arent satisfied, you can add to that as you choose later. try this first before spending for the amp and sub.
online, i would only buy from crutchfield.com. good prices and probably the best customer service around. if you have problems with install or anything, they will help you till the job is finished. i purchased mine locally from a sound shop that has been in business for several years and they installed for me as i added xm radio at the same time. they did a nice install job.
I bought my amp and wiring kit for it from etronics.com. They have good prices and everything I have gotten from them has had no problems and served me well. If you get a 2 channel amp for your subs be sure it is a bridgeable amp. Bridge it down to one channel, even if you plan to use two subs and it'll sound a lot better. Remember that it's important to keep your box sealed. You loose sound quality with ported boxes. At least in my meager opinion, anyway.
thanks for putting up with my stupid newbie questions. i looked at crutchfield and found a alpine and a sony headunit for under $100 that had good reviews. is sony stuff good. im still a compelet newbie to stereo so just trying to learn whats good what not.
Sony car audio stuff is ok, but Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse, and Clarion are much better in my opinion. Also, while Crutchfield does have great customer service there prices are usually right around MSRP which isn't that great of a deal. You can usually find stuff cheaper elsewhere online and sometimes in local stores.
Edit\ Here are a few that I just found that are Ipod ready (you still have ot buy the wire to hook up te ipod) and close to $100 like you mentioned.
