tranny troubles
So this isnt a truck but it is a ford. My 97' tourus just quit shifting into overdrive. It shifts from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd just fine but no 4th. Any idias as to wats wrong with it? It has 135000 miles on it so il bet it needs a rebuild, but anyone know what I should replace? Just the clutches and frictions? Or will it need more? Any info you can give would be great. Thanks.

First you need to pull the codes. If you get a "solenoid performance or stuck off code" then most likely the OD clutches are burnt up. Its common for the drum to crack and leak pressure or the OD planet to come apart. You will have to tear it down to find out.
I should note that if you have never done a modern transmission overhaul before, the AX4N isn't a good one to learn on.
